The Perfumers Guild - an exclusive English niche perfumery established in 1981 by John Bailey for strictly private clients preferring to purchase hand blended, limited edition and bespoke fine fragrances directly from an artisan perfumer and scent maker.

John's career started as an apprentice in the laboratories of a manufacturing chemist, druggist and distiller, learning the art and science of formulating pills, potions and perfumes.

John has spent many years working with renowned growers of aromatic plants and distillers of essential oils leading to technical, marketing and directorial roles with international fragrance supply houses in London, Paris, Grasse and Geneva.

During the 1980's and 90's, The Perfumers Guild exhibited at arts, crafts, and flower festivals throughout the UK including the prestigious Chelsea and Hampton Court Palace flower shows. Marketing subsequently evolved to a Scent Direct mail order service created to serve the many satisfied clients requiring replenishments, preferring a more individual a la carte perfumery service.

The international fragrance market is dominated by mass-produced expensively promoted and packaged designer and celebrity brands with more than 5000 fragrances launched since the year 2000, shopping for a new fragrance can be confusing and frustrating.

The Perfumers Guild 'Scents of Luxury' are beautifully presented in elegant bottles, all compositions vintage or contemporary - are carefully hand blended with the finest quality essential oils and aromatic essences all formulae incorporate a skin moisturiser for a velvety feel and longevity.

John is proud of his ethical, cruelty - free credentials, and also for being the first niche perfumer to be recognised and featured in Michael Edward's Fragrances of the World annual guidebook celebrating in 2009 its 25th anniversary edition.

John's perfume Queen of Sheba was a Fragrance Foundation UK FiFi nominee the Oscar's of the fragrance industry in 2003, judged on the inspirational concept, a newly published book Sheba Revealed, an innovative, scented promotional bookmark, and, specially designed Le Wrap packaging ensuring recipients receive their fragrances in pristine condition via Scent Direct Mail Order.
