A love affair with roses stems from a long association with the Royal National Rose Society, and friendships with many eminent rosarians and rose growers. The Perfumers Guild's twin rose logo was designed and inspired by a lifelong passion for the queen of flowers. Over many years of exhibiting at rose shows and festivals John Bailey became a well recognised figure, resplendent in a pink blazer and floral neckties and known to thousands of visitors as Mr Perfume!
Society Rose was originally created as the signature scent of the Royal National Rose Society. The inspiration was from a highly perfumed eighteenth century French rose bred by Monsieur Rousel and named General Jacqueminot. Coty's first perfume, launched in 1904, was named La Rose Jacqueminot, sadly long since discontinued. Society Rose made its de´but in 1982 and the popular actress, Penelope Keith, who starred in To The Manor Born was presented with the very first bottle when she opened the annual rose festival at The Gardens of the Rose, near St Albans, in Hertfordshire.
Society Rose is a beautiful, sophisticated rose fragrance with instant appeal to anyone with a love of nostalgic, old fashioned, classic perfumes of a bygone age.
